Seeding Action: Aesthetic Accessibility
2018
A continuation of the Seeding Action project.
When building both public and private spaces, aesthetics are usually prioritized over accessibility. Accessibility should never be compromised for beauty, but there are also ways to combine the two. Since there are places that already incorporate accessibility into aesthetics, it is clear there is simply not enough effort put into constructing accessible buildings. I created three pots or structures for plants to be spread and promote accessibility, while also used to grow and house plant life. The first model was inspired by the Highline, the second inspired by the Guggenheim, and the third inspired by a flat stone pattern, an alternative to cobble stone used by a friend in their accessible home. This project is a call to action for more innovative, creative ways of designing accessible buildings and homes.
